Your songs
Keep every song in your library, find it fast and go back to any version.
When you are signed in, your songs live in your library. Save puts a song there, recordings start uploading a few seconds after they land in the project, and the working copy saves itself while you play. The song opens on any device you sign in to, keeps the ten versions you saved before the current one, and stays on this device too, so a dropped connection never stops the work.
When to use it
Use it for everything you are working on. For a copy to hand to someone, or a song that must live in a particular folder, choose This computer when you save. Both are the same .drtape format, so a library song can become a file at any time and a file can join the library.
Controls
Save project
⌘S / Ctrl+S. The first time you save a new song, the Save song window asks for a name and a place: one of your workspaces or This computer. After that, Save keeps a new version without asking, and a short message says where it went. A song opened from a file keeps saving to that file.
Save as…
⇧⌘S / Shift+Ctrl+S. The same window, for saving the open song somewhere new. The song you continue with is the new one; the old one stays where it was.
The status beside the song name
Shows where the song lives and one word. Saved means the library has the song as you see it. Edited means there are changes since the last save, which autosave picks up in a moment. Saving means recordings are on their way. Offline means edits are kept on this device and go up when you reconnect. Waiting means the network is fine but accounts are not answering for the moment; edits are kept on this device and go up when they answer. Needs attention means something stopped the save; hover for the reason. Read-only means the song is being edited in another tab or on another device, so changes here are not saved; choose Edit here instead in its menu to move the editing here. Click it to see when the song was last saved, move it to another workspace, look at its latest versions, or save a version.
Your songs
⌘O / Ctrl+O, or Open project…. Every song from every workspace in one window, newest first, each drawn as its arrangement with its length, tempo and key. Type to search by name, tempo, key or instrument, and sort by when it was edited, its name, when it was made or its size. The places on the left show one workspace, the files on this computer, or the trash. The ⋯ menu of a song opens, renames, duplicates, moves it to another workspace, downloads it as a file, shows its versions or moves it to the trash. When a song’s unsaved changes need audio this device no longer has, it says so, and Discard unsent changes lets the workspace keep the version it has. Looking in a workspace never changes where new songs are saved.
Versions
From the status, from a song’s ⋯ menu or from File › Versions…. The kept versions, grouped by day, each with what changed since the one before it. Restore makes a version the current song and keeps the one you replaced in the list. Open as a copy opens it as a new song beside the original. The pencil names a version, such as “Before vocals”, and a named version is kept like a save.
Autosave
Thirty seconds after your last edit, and whenever the tab is hidden, the working copy goes to the library on its own. Save is how you mark a version worth keeping.
Trash
Deleted songs wait there for thirty days, each with Restore. The × beside it deletes a song permanently, after a question that says how much space it frees. The space stops counting at once; audio another song still uses stays. This cannot be undone.
One place at a time
A song is edited in one place at a time. If you open a song that is open in another tab or on another device, the studio asks whether to Edit here instead or Open read-only. Editing here moves the song. Another tab saves what it has first; another device stops saving and keeps anything it had not sent as a conflict copy. A device that is closed, asleep or offline lets go of the song after a few minutes, so you are only asked when the song is really open elsewhere. If the song changed elsewhere while this device was away, it opens read-only, and Edit here instead brings the latest version.
Offline and conflicts
Edits made offline wait on the device and go up when the connection returns. If two devices edit the same song while apart, the later one to arrive is kept as a separate song marked as a conflict copy with the device’s name. Nothing is merged and nothing is lost.
Tips
- Name a version before a big change. It is easy to find again and it is never dropped by autosave.
- A reload brings the open song back as it was and says so.
- Recordings are stored exactly as recorded, so a long session with many takes is large. The storage line under the places shows how full a workspace is.
- Save a file before handing a song to someone who is not in your workspace.
- A song with more than 3,000 audio files is too large for a workspace. Save it to this computer instead.

Changes
- NewDelete a song permanently from the trash · 16 October 2026
A song in the trash can now be deleted for good with the × beside Restore. The question before it says how much space it frees, and that space stops counting toward the workspace at once instead of after thirty days. Audio that another song still uses stays where it is. A permanent delete cannot be undone.
- FixedThe save pill tells a busy service from being offline · 16 October 2026
A single slow or failed answer from the account service used to show Offline while the network was fine. The studio now asks once more first, and when accounts are not answering it says Waiting instead of Offline and checks again every half minute. If the browser can no longer keep your unsaved work for crash recovery, the status line says so once and suggests saving, and says again when it works.
- FixedLibrary saves that could stall now go through or say why · 15 October 2026
A song brought back after a reload with unsaved edits saves them on its own instead of showing Saved. Impulses and captures stay on the device until they reach the library, one song waiting for its audio no longer holds up the others, and a song that cannot be saved to a workspace, such as one with more than 3,000 audio files, says so when you save and suggests saving it as a file.
- NewA song is edited in one place at a time · 15 October 2026
Opening a song that is open in another tab or on another device now asks whether to edit it here instead or open it read-only, so two places can no longer save over each other. Editing here moves the song, and the other place says it is read-only and keeps anything it had not saved in a copy. A device that is closed or asleep lets go of the song after a few minutes, so you are only asked when someone is really working on it.
- ImprovedYour songs in one library, with versions you can restore · 14 October 2026
Every song from every workspace now opens in one window you can search and sort, each drawn as its arrangement. The first save asks for a name and a place, the status beside the song name says where it lives, and versions can be restored, named and opened as copies. Signing in and the account settings are simpler too.
- NewSave songs to your workspace and open them on any device · 8 October 2026
When you are signed in, Save puts the song in your workspace, recordings upload as soon as they land in the project, and the working copy autosaves. Open project lists the workspace's songs with trash and previous versions, and Save as still writes a file.
