Terms of use
Plain terms for a studio that is still being built. Last updated 14 October 2026.
Who provides Dr. Tape
Dr. Tape is provided by Renki Solutions AB, Margaretavägen 52, 741 44 Knivsta, Sweden ("we"). These terms apply to the studio at its published address and to this website.
What you may do
You may use Dr. Tape to make, edit, mix and export music, for personal or commercial purposes. Everything you create with it belongs to you. We claim no rights to your recordings, projects or exports.
What stays on your computer
The studio processes audio in your browser. Projects, recordings and exports are stored on your device or in the browser's own storage. Nothing you make is uploaded unless you sign in to an optional account and save to the cloud, which is open to invited testers for now.
The studio and this website count anonymous usage statistics so we can see what is used and what breaks. They contain nothing you make and nothing that identifies you, and you can turn them off. The privacy page describes what is collected, where it goes and how long it is kept.
The sound library is downloaded from our content host when you choose an instrument, and the website is served by Cloudflare; both receive the technical information a browser normally sends when it requests a file.
Third-party content
The sample library, convolution impulses and headphone measurements come from open sources under CC0, CC BY and MIT licences, listed on the licences and credits page. When you use a CC BY sound in published work, that licence asks for attribution to its author; the credits in the studio give you the names.
Development software
Dr. Tape is in active development and is free to use while that is the case. It is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Features, instruments, effects and file formats may change, and sound may differ between releases. Keep your own copies of projects and exports; we are not liable for lost work, lost data or any indirect damage arising from use of the studio, to the extent permitted by law.
Fair use of the service
Do not attempt to disrupt the service or its content host, redistribute the sound library as your own, or remove the notices that travel with the engine and the third-party content. The engine source files are served to your browser so the studio can run; they are not licensed for reuse outside Dr. Tape.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the studio grows. The date above changes when we do, and material changes will be announced in the changelog.
Law
These terms are governed by Swedish law. Consumers in the EU keep the rights their local law gives them.
