Your account
Your songs on every device, saved as you play, with every version kept.
An account keeps your songs and effect chains in your library, so they open on every device you sign in to, save themselves as you play and keep the versions you saved. The studio works fully without one; the account adds the library.
When to use it
Create one when you want a song on more than one device, or when you want every take and every save kept for you. Accounts are open to a small group while they are tried out, and they are free while Dr. Tape is in development.
Controls
Sign in
In the top right corner. The window opens on Create account the first time and on Sign in after that. A new account gets a link by email; open it, then sign in.
Your initial
Once you are signed in, your initial replaces Sign in. It opens a small menu with New songs go to, the workspace that new songs and chains are saved in, then Your songs…, Account settings… and Sign out.
Overview
Your name and email, how much of each workspace is used, when the last backup ran, and what the account includes.
Workspaces
Workspaces keep songs and chains apart, for example one per band. Each card shows how many songs and chains it holds and how full it is. The pencil renames it, Make default chooses it for new songs, and Show songs opens your songs there. New workspace adds one.
Sign-in and security
Change your password or email, see the devices you are signed in on and sign any of them out.
Data and privacy
Turn the anonymous usage statistics on or off, download your account details, or delete the account with everything in its workspaces. Files on this computer are never touched.
Tips
- Choose the default workspace before a session, so every new song lands where you expect.
- Signing out never deletes anything. Songs on this device stay, and the library is there when you sign in again.

An address that is not invited yet now hears that accounts are by invitation, instead of waiting for a mail that never comes, and signing up again with an address that already has an account sends a mail that says so. If signing out cannot reach the server, you stay signed in and Account settings tells you why. The devices list no longer shows sign-ins that have expired. After you delete your account, the welcome window says it is done, and a song that was open stays open, ready to save as a file.
